Terms and Privacy Policy: Hadaff from 16, with extra protections for under-18s
You can now use Hadaff from the age of 16. Accounts of people under 18 get extra protections automatically, and prayer times are now worked out on your device.
What changed:
- Terms of Service, section on age: you must be at least 16 (before: 18). If you are under 18, please use Hadaff with the agreement of your parents or guardians. Hadaff is not offered in Brazil and Australia.
- Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, section 11 (Protection of young people): accounts of people under 18 are private and stay private until the 18th birthday; messages, new chats, @mentions and invites only come from people they follow; they are not suggested to others and do not appear on hadaff.de or in trends; no push notifications between 10 pm and 7 am; online status and read receipts are off at first; videos in the feed do not play by themselves; a reminder to take a break; flagged posts are covered; photos in chats stay blurred until tapped.
- Privacy Policy, section 11: in the Android app we may ask Google Play for an age range (only where the law requires it). We keep only whether you are under 16 or under 18 and use it only to switch on these protections.
- Privacy Policy, sections 1 and 4: prayer times are now calculated on your device. Your location is no longer sent to Aladhan or ipapi.co; the approximate location without GPS comes from our own website. The Quran text, translations and the daily Hadith are now served by Hadaff itself, so Quran.com, EveryAyah and jsDelivr are no longer listed.
- Terms of Service, Hadi: a note that AI chatbots may not suit everyone, especially younger people.
- Terms of Service, sources: the Quran text comes unchanged from Tanzil.net (CC BY 3.0).
Why:
Many young Muslims want to use Hadaff for their prayers, Quran and athkar. From 16 they may consent to the processing of their data themselves. The new protections keep them safe from strangers, and fewer outside services mean less of your data leaves Hadaff.
Applies from: November 1, 2026.
What you need to do: nothing. When you open the app, you will be asked once to accept the updated Terms. The earlier versions stay available in our archive, where you can also compare them.
