Terms of Service.
These Terms of Service govern your use of the Hadaff app at hadaff.de and the native Android app. By creating an account or using Hadaff, you agree to these Terms. For information on what data we collect and why, see our separate Privacy Policy — this document focuses on the rules of using the service, not on data handling.
This document is a description of the rules for using Hadaff. It does not constitute individual legal advice.
1. About Hadaff
Hadaff is a free app designed to help you combine daily productivity, Islamic spirituality, and habit tracking. Its features include Quran reading with progress tracking (Khatma), Athkar, daily habit creation and tracking with streaks, a Prayer Tracker with prayer statistics, a Tasbeeh (dhikr) counter, prayer-time notifications based on your location, social features (following other users, public profiles), and an AI assistant ("Hadi" / "Ask Imam") for Islamic questions.
Hadaff is operated by an individual, Mostafa Rashid, not a company.
2. Eligibility / Age Requirements
You must be at least 18 years old to create a Hadaff account. By registering, you confirm that the birthdate you provide is accurate and that you meet this requirement. We do not independently verify your age beyond the birthdate you enter.
3. Your Account
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity under your account. You agree to provide accurate information during registration.
Every account has a username. If you don't choose one, we generate a random one for you; you can change it once every 30 days from Edit Profile. Your username is public and visible to other users. Usernames that are offensive, misleading, or that impersonate another person, Hadaff, or its staff are not allowed and may be changed or removed by us.
If you upload a profile picture, you confirm that you own the rights to it or are otherwise permitted to use it, and that it does not depict another identifiable person without their consent.
4. Acceptable Use
Hadaff is provided for your personal, non-commercial use. You agree to use it lawfully, and respectfully towards other users, and to only maintain one account per person unless we agree otherwise.
5. User Content
"User Content" means anything you add to your account or profile, such as your profile picture, display name, and username. You retain ownership of your User Content, but by adding it to Hadaff you grant us a limited license to store, display, and process it as needed to operate the features you use (for example, showing your profile picture to other users, or your username in search results). You are solely responsible for the User Content you provide and confirm you have the right to share it.
6. Social Features
Hadaff lets you follow other users, be followed, set your account to public or private, block accounts, and report accounts or content that violate these Terms. If your account is public, your username, profile picture, and (depending on your settings) parts of your activity may be visible to other users, including people you don't follow. If your account is private, your follow relationships and related activity are limited to accounts you approve.
You agree to use social features respectfully: do not use following, blocking, reporting, or nicknames to harass, impersonate, or mislead other users. We may remove social connections or restrict social features on an account that is used to violate these Terms.
7. AI Features
You are interacting with an artificial intelligence system, not a human being. In accordance with Article 50 of the EU Artificial Intelligence Act, we clearly inform you that "Hadi" (also shown as "Ask Imam") is an automated AI system. It is not a certified Islamic scholar (Alim), Imam, or religious authority, and its responses do not constitute a religious ruling (fatwa).
The Hadaff AI feature is powered by OpenAI's models and intended for general Islamic guidance only, subject to a daily usage limit shown in the app. It can make mistakes, misquote sources, or produce inaccurate information. It should never be treated as a substitute for verified Islamic scholarship or a qualified scholar, and must not be relied upon for medical, legal, financial, or safety-critical decisions.
Your messages to Hadi — including any text and images you send — are transmitted to OpenAI for processing and stored in your account so you can continue the conversation later; see our Privacy Policy for details. Please do not share sensitive personal information (such as health data, financial details, or information about third parties) in the AI chat. You may rate individual responses (thumbs up/down); we may use this feedback to improve the service. We are not responsible for decisions you make based on responses from the AI assistant.
8. Habits & Tracking Features
Hadaff lets you create and track personal habits, with names, icons, colors, and an optional goal, and calculates streaks based on your logged completions. This is a personal productivity tool: we do not verify or guarantee the accuracy of any streak or statistic, and a technical issue, sync delay, or bug could occasionally affect a streak or history. Habit data you create is yours to track — see our Privacy Policy for how it's stored and for how long.
9. Religious Features
Hadaff offers several optional Islamic practice tools: the Prayer Tracker, Tasbeeh (dhikr counter), Khatma (Quran reading progress), and Athkar (daily remembrance). These are personal tracking and reminder tools, not religious authorities. Using them is entirely optional, and using them does not make Hadaff, or any output the app calculates from them (such as a streak), a source of religious guidance.
Prayer times shown in the app are calculated using the location-based method described in Section 15 and are provided as a convenience; you remain responsible for confirming prayer times through your own local mosque or trusted source where accuracy is critical.
Quran recitations used in the app are sourced from EveryAyah.com, a free, non-commercial platform, and are provided for personal, non-commercial use only. All reciters and their recordings remain the intellectual property of their respective owners. Reciters featured in the app include:
- Mishary Rashid Alafasy
- Abdul Basit Abdus Samad
- Abdurrahman As-Sudais
- Abdullah Basfar
- Abu Bakr Ash-Shaatree
- Ali Ibn Abdur-Rahman Al-Hudhaify
- Hani Ar-Rifai
- Mahmoud Khalil Al-Husary
- Muhammad Ayyoub
- Muhammad Jibreel
- Nasser Al-Qatami
- Saad Al-Ghamdi
- Yasser Ad-Dussary
- Khalid Al-Qahtani
- Ahmed ibn Ali Al-Ajamy
- Ibrahim Al-Akhdar
Quran text is sourced from the Quran.com API and AlQuran.Cloud API, both providing open access to Quran data for non-commercial use. The Uthmani text follows the Hafs narration of the recitation of Asim. We do not claim ownership over this content — all rights belong to their respective owners.
10. Prohibited Activities
You agree not to:
- Use Hadaff for any illegal purpose
- Attempt to hack, reverse-engineer, scrape, or disrupt the app, its backend, or its services
- Share offensive, harmful, or misleading content through the app, including in your profile or username
- Use the AI assistant to generate harmful, extremist, hateful, or otherwise inappropriate content, or to attempt to bypass its safety guidelines
- Harass, impersonate, or intentionally deceive other users through social features
- Create multiple accounts to evade a restriction or to abuse the service (e.g. rate limits, reporting, or social features)
11. Moderation
To keep Hadaff safe and operating properly, we may review content and account activity that is reported to us or that we otherwise become aware of, and we may take action — including removing content, restricting features, or suspending or terminating an account — where we reasonably believe these Terms have been violated. We may also investigate suspected abuse, security incidents, or technical issues as needed to operate and secure the service; see Section 3 of our Privacy Policy for how administrator access is limited and logged.
We do not monitor private user content (such as your Prayer Tracker entries or AI chat history) on an ongoing or arbitrary basis. Moderation and administrative access are limited to what is reasonably necessary for support, safety, security, and legal compliance.
12. Account Suspension / Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate an account that violates these Terms, poses a security risk, or is used for abuse. Where reasonably possible, we will try to give you notice and an opportunity to resolve the issue first, except where immediate action is necessary to protect the service or other users.
You may delete your account at any time through the app (Account → Delete Account); see our Privacy Policy, Section 8, for exactly what happens when you do. Hadaff is provided free of charge — because no payment is involved, the statutory right of withdrawal for digital content and services (§ 356 BGB) has no practical effect here, since you can stop using the app and delete your account at any time, free of charge, with the same result.
13. Intellectual Property
All content in the Hadaff app — including its design, code, Quran texts, Athkar, and Hadith compilations, other than the third-party sources credited below — is provided for your personal, non-commercial use only. You may not copy, redistribute, or use app content outside the app without permission.
Quran fonts are sourced from the QPC Fonts project and Google Fonts, used under their respective open-source licenses. Hadaff's QR-code scanning feature uses jsQR, licensed under the Apache License 2.0; it runs entirely on your device and does not collect, transmit, or store any data. See Section 9 for Quran recitation, text, and reciter attributions.
14. Availability / Changes to the Service
We strive to keep Hadaff available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted access; the app may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or technical issues. We may update, change, or discontinue features of Hadaff at any time and will try to inform users of significant changes when reasonably possible. We are not liable for inconvenience caused by downtime or feature changes.
15. Third-Party Services
Certain features rely on external services. Prayer times and the Athan (call to prayer) feature use your device's location, if you choose to share it, sent to the Aladhan prayer-times API and, when searching for a place, to the OpenStreetMap Nominatim geocoding service. If you don't grant location permission, we estimate your city-level location from your IP address via ipapi.co as a fallback. Your coordinates are stored locally on your device, not on our servers. You can deny or revoke location access at any time in your device settings or the app's Tools section and set your location manually instead.
If you enable notifications, we use your device's push token to send you prayer-time reminders and other app-related alerts; you can disable this at any time. Our backend, authentication, database, storage, and push notifications run on Google Firebase; our AI feature runs on OpenAI; and account emails are sent via Resend. Full details of what each service processes are in our Privacy Policy.
16. Disclaimer
Hadaff's content — including Islamic content, prayer-time calculations, and AI-generated responses — is provided with care, but we cannot guarantee its accuracy, completeness, or timeliness. Hadaff is not a substitute for a qualified Islamic scholar, a medical professional, a lawyer, or a financial adviser, and should not be relied upon as such.
17. Limitation of Liability
Hadaff is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for damages resulting from your use of the app, including data loss, service interruptions, or reliance on AI-generated or prayer-time content. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death, personal injury, or damage caused by intent or gross negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under German law.
18. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms of Service to reflect changes to the app or legal requirements. Continued use of the app after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the new Terms. We will notify users of significant changes through the app.
19. Governing Law / Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer habitually resident in another EU member state, you also retain the protection of any mandatory consumer-protection provisions of that country's law. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Berlin, Germany, to the extent legally permissible. We are neither willing nor obliged to participate in proceedings before a consumer arbitration board (Verbraucherschlichtungsstelle).
