26:1

Taseenmeem

Ta, Seen, Meem

26:2

Tilka ayatu alkitabi almubeeni

These are the verses of the clear Book

26:3

Perhaps, [O Muhammad], you would kill yourself with grief that they will not be believers

26:4

In nasha nunazzil ʿalayhim mina alssamai ayatan fathallat aʿnaquhum laha khadiʿeena

If We willed, We could send down to them from the sky a sign for which their necks would remain humbled

26:5

Wama yateehim min thikrin mina alrrahmani muhdathin illa kanoo ʿanhu muʿrideena

And no revelation comes to them anew from the Most Merciful except that they turn away from it

26:6

Faqad kaththaboo fasayateehim anbao ma kanoo bihi yastahzioona

For they have already denied, but there will come to them the news of that which they used to ridicule

26:7

Awalam yaraw ila alardi kam anbatna feeha min kulli zawjin kareemin

Did they not look at the earth - how much We have produced therein from every noble kind

26:8

Inna fee thalika laayatan wama kana aktharuhum mumineena

Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers

26:9

Wainna rabbaka lahuwa alʿazeezu alrraheemu

And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful

Waith nada rabbuka moosa ani iti alqawma alththalimeena

And [mention] when your Lord called Moses, [saying], "Go to the wrongdoing people

Qawma firʿawna ala yattaqoona

The people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Allah

Qala rabbi innee akhafu an yukaththibooni

He said, "My Lord, indeed I fear that they will deny me

Wayadeequ sadree wala yantaliqu lisanee faarsil ila haroona

And that my breast will tighten and my tongue will not be fluent, so send for Aaron

Walahum ʿalayya thanbun faakhafu an yaqtulooni

And they have upon me a [claim due to] sin, so I fear that they will kill me

Qala kalla faithhaba biayatina inna maʿakum mustamiʿoona

[Allah] said, "No. Go both of you with Our signs; indeed, We are with you, listening

Fatiya firʿawna faqoola inna rasoolu rabbi alʿalameena

Go to Pharaoh and say, 'We are the messengers of the Lord of the worlds

An arsil maʿana banee israeela

[Commanded to say], "Send with us the Children of Israel

Qala alam nurabbika feena waleedan walabithta feena min ʿumurika sineena

[Pharaoh] said, "Did we not raise you among us as a child, and you remained among us for years of your life

Wafaʿalta faʿlataka allatee faʿalta waanta mina alkafireena

And [then] you did your deed which you did, and you were of the ungrateful

Qala faʿaltuha ithan waana mina alddalleena

[Moses] said, "I did it, then, while I was of those astray

Fafarartu minkum lamma khiftukum fawahaba lee rabbee hukman wajaʿalanee mina almursaleena

So I fled from you when I feared you. Then my Lord granted me wisdom and prophethood and appointed me [as one] of the messengers

Watilka niʿmatun tamunnuha ʿalayya an ʿabbadta banee israeela

And is this a favor of which you remind me - that you have enslaved the Children of Israel

Qala firʿawnu wama rabbu alʿalameena

Said Pharaoh, "And what is the Lord of the worlds

Qala rabbu almashriqi waalmaghribi wama baynahuma in kuntum taʿqiloona

[Moses] said, "Lord of the east and the west and that between them, if you were to reason

Qala laini ittakhathta ilahan ghayree laajʿalannaka mina almasjooneena

[Pharaoh] said, "If you take a god other than me, I will surely place you among those imprisoned

Qala awalaw jituka bishayin mubeenin

[Moses] said, "Even if I brought you proof manifest

Qala fati bihi in kunta mina alssadiqeena

[Pharaoh] said, "Then bring it, if you should be of the truthful

Faalqa ʿasahu faitha hiya thuʿbanun mubeenun

So [Moses] threw his staff, and suddenly it was a serpent manifest

Wanazaʿa yadahu faitha hiya baydao lilnnathireena

And he drew out his hand; thereupon it was white for the observers

Qala lilmalai hawlahu inna hatha lasahirun ʿaleemun

[Pharaoh] said to the eminent ones around him, "Indeed, this is a learned magician

Yureedu an yukhrijakum min ardikum bisihrihi famatha tamuroona

He wants to drive you out of your land by his magic, so what do you advise

Qaloo arjih waakhahu waibʿath fee almadaini hashireena

Yatooka bikulli sahharin ʿaleemin

Who will bring you every learned, skilled magician

Fajumiʿa alssaharatu limeeqati yawmin maʿloomin

So the magicians were assembled for the appointment of a well-known day

Waqeela lilnnasi hal antum mujtamiʿoona

And it was said to the people, "Will you congregate

Laʿallana nattabiʿu alssaharata in kanoo humu alghalibeena

That we might follow the magicians if they are the predominant

Falamma jaa alssaharatu qaloo lifirʿawna ainna lana laajran in kunna nahnu alghalibeena

And when the magicians arrived, they said to Pharaoh, "Is there indeed for us a reward if we are the predominant

Qala naʿam wainnakum ithan lamina almuqarrabeena

He said, "Yes, and indeed, you will then be of those near [to me]

Qala lahum moosa alqoo ma antum mulqoona

Moses said to them, "Throw whatever you will throw

Faalqaw hibalahum waʿisiyyahum waqaloo biʿizzati firʿawna inna lanahnu alghaliboona

So they threw their ropes and their staffs and said, "By the might of Pharaoh, indeed it is we who are predominant

Faalqa moosa ʿasahu faitha hiya talqafu ma yafikoona

Then Moses threw his staff, and at once it devoured what they falsified

Faolqiya alssaharatu sajideena

So the magicians fell down in prostration [to Allah]

The Lord of Moses and Aaron

Qala amantum lahu qabla an athana lakum innahu lakabeerukumu allathee ʿallamakumu alssihra falasawfa taʿlamoona laoqattiʿanna aydiyakum waarjulakum min khilafin walaosallibannakum ajmaʿeena

[Pharaoh] said, "You believed Moses before I gave you permission. Indeed, he is your leader who has taught you magic, but you are going to know. I will surely cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will surely crucify you all

Qaloo la dayra inna ila rabbina munqaliboona

They said, "No harm. Indeed, to our Lord we will return

Inna natmaʿu an yaghfira lana rabbuna khatayana an kunna awwala almumineena

Indeed, we aspire that our Lord will forgive us our sins because we were the first of the believers

Waawhayna ila moosa an asri biʿibadee innakum muttabaʿoona

And We inspired to Moses, "Travel by night with My servants; indeed, you will be pursued

Faarsala firʿawnu fee almadaini hashireena

Then Pharaoh sent among the cities gatherers

Inna haolai lashirthimatun qaleeloona

[And said], "Indeed, those are but a small band

Wainnahum lana laghaithoona

And indeed, they are enraging us

Wainna lajameeʿun hathiroona

And indeed, we are a cautious society

Faakhrajnahum min jannatin waʿuyoonin

So We removed them from gardens and springs

Wakunoozin wamaqamin kareemin

And treasures and honorable station

Kathalika waawrathnaha banee israeela

Thus. And We caused to inherit it the Children of Israel

Faatbaʿoohum mushriqeena

So they pursued them at sunrise

Falamma taraa aljamʿani qala ashabu moosa inna lamudrakoona

And when the two companies saw one another, the companions of Moses said, "Indeed, we are to be overtaken

Qala kalla inna maʿiya rabbee sayahdeeni

[Moses] said, "No! Indeed, with me is my Lord; He will guide me

Faawhayna ila moosa ani idrib biʿasaka albahra fainfalaqa fakana kullu firqin kaalttawdi alʿatheemi

Then We inspired to Moses, "Strike with your staff the sea," and it parted, and each portion was like a great towering mountain

Waazlafna thamma alakhareena

And We advanced thereto the pursuers

Waanjayna moosa waman maʿahu ajmaʿeena

And We saved Moses and those with him, all together

Thumma aghraqna alakhareena

Then We drowned the others

Inna fee thalika laayatan wama kana aktharuhum mumineena

Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers

Wainna rabbaka lahuwa alʿazeezu alrraheemu

And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful

Waotlu ʿalayhim nabaa ibraheema

And recite to them the news of Abraham

Ith qala liabeehi waqawmihi ma taʿbudoona

When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship

They will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment

Fayatiyahum baghtatan wahum la yashʿuroona

And it will come to them suddenly while they perceive [it] not

Fayaqooloo hal nahnu muntharoona

And they will say, "May we be reprieved

Afabiʿathabina yastaʿjiloona

So for Our punishment are they impatient

Afaraayta in mattaʿnahum sineena

Then have you considered if We gave them enjoyment for years

Thumma jaahum ma kanoo yooʿadoona

And then there came to them that which they were promised

Ma aghna ʿanhum ma kanoo yumattaʿoona

They would not be availed by the enjoyment with which they were provided

Wama ahlakna min qaryatin illa laha munthiroona

And We did not destroy any city except that it had warners

Thikra wama kunna thalimeena

As a reminder; and never have We been unjust

Wama tanazzalat bihi alshshayateenu

And the devils have not brought the revelation down

Wama yanbaghee lahum wama yastateeʿoona

It is not allowable for them, nor would they be able

Innahum ʿani alssamʿi lamaʿzooloona

Indeed they, from [its] hearing, are removed

Fala tadʿu maʿa Allahi ilahan akhara fatakoona mina almuʿaththabeena

So do not invoke with Allah another deity and [thus] be among the punished

Waanthir ʿasheerataka alaqrabeena

And warn, [O Muhammad], your closest kindred

Waikhfid janahaka limani ittabaʿaka mina almumineena

And lower your wing to those who follow you of the believers

Fain ʿasawka faqul innee bareeon mimma taʿmaloona

And if they disobey you, then say, "Indeed, I am disassociated from what you are doing

Watawakkal ʿala alʿazeezi alrraheemi

And rely upon the Exalted in Might, the Merciful

Allathee yaraka heena taqoomu

Who sees you when you arise

Wataqallubaka fee alssajideena

And your movement among those who prostrate

Innahu huwa alssameeʿu alʿaleemu

Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing

Hal onabbiokum ʿala man tanazzalu alshshayateenu

Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend

Tanazzalu ʿala kulli affakin atheemin

They descend upon every sinful liar

Yulqoona alssamʿa waaktharuhum kathiboona

They pass on what is heard, and most of them are liars

Waalshshuʿarao yattabiʿuhumu alghawoona

And the poets - [only] the deviators follow them

Alam tara annahum fee kulli wadin yaheemoona

Do you not see that in every valley they roam

Waannahum yaqooloona ma la yafʿaloona

And that they say what they do not do

Illa allatheena amanoo waʿamiloo alssalihati wathakaroo Allaha katheeran waintasaroo min baʿdi ma thulimoo wasayaʿlamu allatheena thalamoo ayya munqalabin yanqaliboona

Except those [poets] who believe and do righteous deeds and remember Allah often and defend [the Muslims] after they were wronged. And those who have wronged are going to know to what [kind of] return they will be returned
