Surah Al-Fatiha
سورة الفاتحة · The Opener · 7 verses · Meccan
Al-Fatiha is the first surah of the Quran and is recited in every unit (rak'ah) of prayer. The Prophet ﷺ said: "There is no prayer for the one who does not recite the Opening of the Book" (al-Bukhari, Muslim). It is also called "Umm al-Kitab" (Mother of the Book) and "the seven oft-repeated verses" (15:87), and it combines praise, worship and the plea for guidance.
