Isra and Mi'raj 2027

Isra and Mi'raj is the Night Journey of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ from Makkah to Jerusalem and his ascension through the heavens. In that night the five daily prayers were made obligatory. It is traditionally remembered on the night of 27 Rajab.

سُبۡحَٰنَ ٱلَّذِيٓ أَسۡرَىٰ بِعَبۡدِهِۦ لَيۡلٗا مِّنَ ٱلۡمَسۡجِدِ ٱلۡحَرَامِ إِلَى ٱلۡمَسۡجِدِ ٱلۡأَقۡصَا ٱلَّذِي بَٰرَكۡنَا حَوۡلَهُۥ لِنُرِيَهُۥ مِنۡ ءَايَٰتِنَآۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلۡبَصِيرُ ﴿١﴾
Subhana allathee asra biʿabdihi laylan mina almasjidi alharami ila almasjidi alaqsa allathee barakna hawlahu linuriyahu min ayatina innahu huwa alssameeʿu albaseeru
Exalted is He who took His Servant by night from al-Masjid al-Haram to al-Masjid al-Aqsa, whose surroundings We have blessed, to show him of Our signs. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Seeing
What happened that night
In one night the Prophet ﷺ was taken from the Sacred Mosque in Makkah to al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem (Isra) and from there raised through the seven heavens (Mi'raj). He met earlier prophets, saw signs of his Lord and received the command of prayer: first fifty prayers, then, after Musa urged him to ask for less, five prayers with the reward of fifty (al-Bukhari, Muslim).
The date
Scholars differ about the exact night of the journey; 27 Rajab is the best-known date. No particular form of worship for this night is laid down in authentic narrations. Many take the occasion to reflect on the story and on the value of the prayer.
In Turkey and Diyanet mosques the Mi'raj night (Miraç Kandili) of 2027 is observed on the evening of 5 January according to the Diyanet calendar, one day later than by the Umm al-Qura calendar.
