The first five verses of Al-Alaq ("Read in the name of your Lord …") were the first revelation the Prophet ﷺ received in the cave of Hira (al-Bukhari).

Surah Al-Alaq in Arabic and English
بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
ٱقۡرَأۡ بِٱسۡمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَ ﴿١﴾
Iqra biismi rabbika allathee khalaqa
Recite in the name of your Lord who created
خَلَقَ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ مِنۡ عَلَقٍ ﴿٢﴾
Khalaqa alinsana min ʿalaqin
Created man from a clinging substance
ٱقۡرَأۡ وَرَبُّكَ ٱلۡأَكۡرَمُ ﴿٣﴾
Iqra warabbuka alakramu
Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous
ٱلَّذِي عَلَّمَ بِٱلۡقَلَمِ ﴿٤﴾
Allathee ʿallama bialqalami
Who taught by the pen
عَلَّمَ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ مَا لَمۡ يَعۡلَمۡ ﴿٥﴾
ʿallama alinsana ma lam yaʿlam
Taught man that which he knew not
كَلَّآ إِنَّ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ لَيَطۡغَىٰٓ ﴿٦﴾
Kalla inna alinsana layatgha
No! [But] indeed, man transgresses
أَن رَّءَاهُ ٱسۡتَغۡنَىٰٓ ﴿٧﴾
An raahu istaghna
Because he sees himself self-sufficient
إِنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ ٱلرُّجۡعَىٰٓ ﴿٨﴾
Inna ila rabbika alrrujʿa
Indeed, to your Lord is the return
أَرَءَيۡتَ ٱلَّذِي يَنۡهَىٰ ﴿٩﴾
Araayta allathee yanha
Have you seen the one who forbids
عَبۡدًا إِذَا صَلَّىٰٓ ﴿١٠﴾
ʿabdan itha salla
A servant when he prays
أَرَءَيۡتَ إِن كَانَ عَلَى ٱلۡهُدَىٰٓ ﴿١١﴾
Araayta in kana ʿala alhuda
Have you seen if he is upon guidance
أَوۡ أَمَرَ بِٱلتَّقۡوَىٰٓ ﴿١٢﴾
Aw amara bialttaqwa
Or enjoins righteousness
أَرَءَيۡتَ إِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰٓ ﴿١٣﴾
Araayta in kaththaba watawalla
Have you seen if he denies and turns away
أَلَمۡ يَعۡلَم بِأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَرَىٰ ﴿١٤﴾
Alam yaʿlam bianna Allaha yara
Does he not know that Allah sees
كَلَّا لَئِن لَّمۡ يَنتَهِ لَنَسۡفَعَۢا بِٱلنَّاصِيَةِ ﴿١٥﴾
Kalla lain lam yantahi lanasfaʿan bialnnasiyati
No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock
نَاصِيَةٖ كَٰذِبَةٍ خَاطِئَةٖ ﴿١٦﴾
Nasiyatin kathibatin khatiatin
A lying, sinning forelock
فَلۡيَدۡعُ نَادِيَهُۥ ﴿١٧﴾
Falyadʿu nadiyahu
Then let him call his associates
سَنَدۡعُ ٱلزَّبَانِيَةَ ﴿١٨﴾
Sanadʿu alzzabaniyata
We will call the angels of Hell
كَلَّا لَا تُطِعۡهُ وَٱسۡجُدۡۤ وَٱقۡتَرِب۩ ﴿١٩﴾
Kalla la tutiʿhu waosjud waiqtarib
No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]
