Then do not obey the deniers

They wish that you would soften [in your position], so they would soften [toward you]

Wala tutiʿ kulla hallafin maheenin

And do not obey every worthless habitual swearer

Itha tutla ʿalayhi ayatuna qala asateeru alawwaleena

When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples

Sanasimuhu ʿala alkhurtoomi

We will brand him upon the snout

Inna balawnahum kama balawna ashaba aljannati ith aqsamoo layasrimunnaha musbiheena

Indeed, We have tried them as We tried the companions of the garden, when they swore to cut its fruit in the [early] morning

Wala yastathnoona

Without making exception

Faasbahat kaalssareemi

And it became as though reaped

An la yadkhulannaha alyawma ʿalaykum miskeenun

[Saying], "There will surely not enter it today upon you [any] poor person

Waghadaw ʿala hardin qadireena

And they went early in determination, [assuming themselves] able

ʿasa rabbuna an yubdilana khayran minha inna ila rabbina raghiboona

Perhaps our Lord will substitute for us [one] better than it. Indeed, we are toward our Lord desirous

Inna lilmuttaqeena ʿinda rabbihim jannati alnnaʿeemi

Indeed, for the righteous with their Lord are the Gardens of Pleasure

Afanajʿalu almuslimeena kaalmujrimeena

Inna lakum feehi lama takhayyaroona

That indeed for you is whatever you choose

Am lakum aymanun ʿalayna balighatun ila yawmi alqiyamati inna lakum lama tahkumoona

Yawma yukshafu ʿan saqin wayudʿawna ila alssujoodi fala yastateeʿoona

The Day the shin will be uncovered and they are invited to prostration but the disbelievers will not be able

Khashiʿatan absaruhum tarhaquhum thillatun waqad kanoo yudʿawna ila alssujoodi wahum salimoona

Am tasaluhum ajran fahum min maghramin muthqaloona

Lawla an tadarakahu niʿmatun min rabbihi lanubitha bialʿarai wahuwa mathmoomun

If not that a favor from his Lord overtook him, he would have been thrown onto the naked shore while he was censured

Faijtabahu rabbuhu fajaʿalahu mina alssaliheena

And his Lord chose him and made him of the righteous

Wain yakadu allatheena kafaroo layuzliqoonaka biabsarihim lamma samiʿoo alththikra wayaqooloona innahu lamajnoonun

And indeed, those who disbelieve would almost make you slip with their eyes when they hear the message, and they say, "Indeed, he is mad
