Explain a hadith and check its source
A hadith shared on WhatsApp, a saying you heard in a lecture: ask Hadi what it means, where it is recorded and how scholars graded it.
Example questions
- Is "seek knowledge even if you have to go to China" authentic?
- What does the hadith "actions are judged by intentions" mean?
- Where is the hadith about the seven people shaded by Allah?
- What does sahih, hasan and daif mean?
Why checking matters
It is enough of a lie for a person to repeat everything he hears.
Sahih Muslim
Many popular sayings are attributed to the Prophet ﷺ but are weak or fabricated. Hadi is instructed to prefer authentic collections and to say clearly when a narration is disputed or when it is not certain of the reference.
The grading in short
- Sahih: authentic, with a sound chain of trustworthy narrators.
- Hasan: good, slightly below sahih but accepted as evidence.
- Daif: weak, not used as evidence for rulings.
- Mawdu: fabricated.
For important questions, check the grading with a scholar or a trusted hadith reference. Short authentic hadith to share: short hadith for status.
