Surah Al-Asr
سورة العصر · The Declining Day · 3 verses · Meccan
Al-Asr is one of the shortest surahs. Imam ash-Shafi'i is reported to have said that if Allah had revealed only this surah, it would have been enough for people. It names four qualities that save from loss: faith, good deeds, urging one another to truth and to patience.

Surah Al-Asr in Arabic and English
بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
وَٱلۡعَصۡرِ ﴿١﴾
Waalʿasri
By time
إِنَّ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ لَفِي خُسۡرٍ ﴿٢﴾
Inna alinsana lafee khusrin
Indeed, mankind is in loss
إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَٰتِ وَتَوَاصَوۡاْ بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَتَوَاصَوۡاْ بِٱلصَّبۡرِ ﴿٣﴾
Illa allatheena amanoo waʿamiloo alssalihati watawasaw bialhaqqi watawasaw bialssabri
Except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience
