Keeping family ties (silat ar-rahim)
Staying in touch with relatives is a command of Allah, with a promise of more provision and blessing in life.
Whoever would like his provision to be increased and his life to be extended, let him maintain his family ties.
Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim
The one who maintains ties is not the one who reciprocates. The one who maintains ties is the one who, when his relatives cut him off, keeps the ties.
Sahih al-Bukhari

O mankind, fear your Lord, who created you from one soul and created from it its mate and dispersed from both of them many men and women. And fear Allah, through whom you ask one another, and the wombs. Indeed Allah is ever, over you, an Observer
