Islamic New Year wishes

The Hijri year begins with Muharram, one of the four sacred months. Many Muslims use it to reflect and make good intentions for the year ahead.

Wishes and reflections

May this new Hijri year bring you closer to Allah and fill your life with barakah.

A new Islamic year: a new chance to be better than last year. May Allah accept our efforts.

As the Hijri year turns, may we leave our bad habits behind, as the Prophet ﷺ left Makkah for the sake of Allah.

Wishing you a blessed Muharram and a year full of iman, health and peace.

New year, same goal: Jannah. 🤍

The sacred month of Muharram

Inna ʿiddata alshshuhoori ʿinda Allahi ithna ʿashara shahran fee kitabi Allahi yawma khalaqa alssamawati waalarda minha arbaʿatun hurumun thalika alddeenu alqayyimu fala tathlimoo feehinna anfusakum waqatiloo almushrikeena kaffatan kama yuqatiloonakum kaffatan waiʿlamoo anna Allaha maʿa almuttaqeena

Indeed, the number of months with Allah is twelve [lunar] months in the register of Allah [from] the day He created the heavens and the earth; of these, four are sacred. That is the correct religion, so do not wrong yourselves during them. And fight against the disbelievers collectively as they fight against you collectively. And know that Allah is with the righteous [who fear Him]

Quran 9:36 · Surah At-Tauba

The best fasting after Ramadan is in the month of Allah, Muharram.

Sahih Muslim

The 10th of Muharram is the Day of Ashura.

No specific greeting was reported from the Prophet ﷺ. Many scholars say there is no harm in exchanging good wishes and duas, as long as it is not treated as an act of worship.
