How to finish the Quran every month
Completing the Quran once a month was the pace the Prophet ﷺ first recommended to Abdullah ibn Amr. It is one juz a day, about 20 pages.
The Sunnah pace
Read the Quran in a month.
Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim, the Prophet ﷺ to Abdullah ibn Amr
The 4 pages rule
The Quran has about 604 pages. Four pages after each of the five daily prayers is 20 pages, one juz, a day. That is about 15 minutes per prayer at most, often less.
Tips
- Use a khatma tracker that shows which juz is due today, like the one in Hadaff.
- Catch up the same week if you miss a day, before it piles up.
- Do a khatma together with family or friends: each person reads one or more juz.
- Start in Ramadan if a monthly pace feels too much, and keep going afterwards at half the pace.
- Make dua when you finish. The companion Anas gathered his family and made dua when he completed the Quran (ad-Darimi).
