Istighfar: Astaghfirullah 100 times a day
The Prophet ﷺ, whose past and future sins were forgiven, sought Allah's forgiveness more than seventy times a day. Istighfar is the easiest habit on this list and one of the most powerful.
By Allah, I seek the forgiveness of Allah and repent to Him more than seventy times a day.
Sahih al-Bukhari
O people, repent to Allah, for I repent to Him a hundred times a day.
Sahih Muslim
The benefits in the Quran
Nuh told his people that seeking forgiveness brings rain, wealth, children and gardens:
Faqultu istaghfiroo rabbakum innahu kana ghaffaran Yursili alssamaa ʿalaykum midraran Wayumdidkum biamwalin wabaneena wayajʿal lakum jannatin wayajʿal lakum anharan
And said, 'Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is ever a Perpetual Forgiver He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in [continuing] showers And give you increase in wealth and children and provide for you gardens and provide for you rivers
Quran 71:10-12 · Surah Nuh
Sayyid al-Istighfar, the best way to ask forgiveness
Allahumma anta rabbi la ilaha illa ant, khalaqtani wa ana abduk, wa ana ala ahdika wa wadika mastatat, audhu bika min sharri ma sanat, abu u laka bi nimatika alayya, wa abu u bi dhanbi faghfir li, fa innahu la yaghfirudh-dhunuba illa ant
O Allah, You are my Lord, none has the right to be worshipped but You. You created me and I am Your servant, and I keep Your covenant and promise as much as I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge Your favour upon me and I acknowledge my sin, so forgive me, for none forgives sins but You.
Whoever says it during the day with firm faith and dies that day before evening is of the people of Paradise, and whoever says it at night with firm faith and dies before morning is of the people of Paradise.
Sahih al-Bukhari
