How to read the Quran every day

Every letter of the Quran you read is a good deed, multiplied tenfold. You do not need an hour a day. One page after one prayer is a habit that lasts a lifetime.

The reward

Whoever reads a letter from the Book of Allah has a good deed, and a good deed is multiplied by ten. I do not say that Alif Lam Mim is a letter, but Alif is a letter, Lam is a letter and Mim is a letter.

Jami at-Tirmidhi

Read the Quran, for it will come on the Day of Resurrection as an intercessor for its companions.

Sahih Muslim

The one who is skilled in the Quran is with the noble and righteous scribes, and the one who reads it and stumbles over it, finding it difficult, has two rewards.

Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim

How to build the habit

  1. Choose a fixed time. After Fajr or after Isha works for most people.
  2. Set a small target: one page, five verses or ten minutes. Increase it later.
  3. Keep your place. Use a bookmark in the Hadaff Quran so you open where you stopped.
  4. Read with meaning. Read the translation next to the Arabic, for example Surah Yasin or Surah al-Mulk.
  5. Listen when you cannot read: on the way to work, with audio verse by verse.
  6. Track your streak so a busy day does not turn into a lost month.

A simple plan

Four pages after each of the five prayers is twenty pages, one juz, a day: the whole Quran in a month. Start with one page per prayer.

Track your habits in Hadaff

Add any habit to your Hadaff habit tracker, tick it off each day and watch your streak grow. Prayer times with athan reminders, athkar with a counter and a khatma plan are built in. Free, no ads, no ad tracking.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to read the Quran?

The Quran has about 604 pages. At one page a day it takes under two years, at four pages a day about five months, and at one juz (20 pages) a day one month.

Do I need wudu to read the Quran?

Most scholars say wudu is required to touch a printed mushaf. Reading from memory or on a phone without touching a mushaf is allowed without wudu, though being in wudu is better.
